I just finished my last story as a section editor for Quo Vadis and I simply do not have enough space to explain how much I learned writing for this newspaper, but I am going to try to picture it as this: a little more than three years ago, the only place where I used the English language was when I bought something and the user's manual was so poorly translated into Spanish that English was easier for me.
I am now counting days until graduation and I would like to use this medium to absolutely thank everyone at Middlesex County College. Here, I met the most wonderful people in my short stay in the U.S. and I look forward to come back to visit, maybe help, or an even bigger maybe, to teach. But that is a look too far into the future.
Thank you to all my professors, to everybody I worked with, to everybody who shared a classroom with me and to everyone who sometimes gave me their guidance here and there.
Instead of naming names, I am going to thank departments (that way I do not leave anybody out). Thanks to everyone in the ESL department, to all of you in Purchasing and Accounts Payable, those in Advising, as well as those in Minority Student Affairs, to the members of Phi Theta Kappa and this newspaper. To all of you, my success is the immediate result of your efforts, support and kindness.
More thanks to professors Jeremy Nickerson, Jane Ostacher, Marianne Santelli, Arthur Peterson, Melissa Edwards and others who work as hard as anyone, like John Dunning, Lori Johnson and Victor Vega, David Fricke, Pat Daly and Leslie Carter-all of you have taught me life lessons with your exemplary behavior and constant motivation.
As I transfer to William Paterson University, I take with me three years of meaningful experiences which will serve as stepping stones to build my career. I am sure that I graduate as ready as anyone would want to be and that I also owe to MCC.
I save these last two lines to thank my mother, father and sister. Fabiana, Enrique and Gabriela, together we went through the most difficult times and now we are finally pulling through. Your collective unselfish effort, love and companionship have made my happiness in the U.S possible.
So to all of you who have touched my life in one way or the other, I say thank you, and goodbye.
