Middlesex County College's fitness center will be closed temporarily for renovation purposes from now until the beginning of May. Students and staff will still be able to take part in the recreational fitness program in the upper middle third gymnasium.
"For the meantime, students can still attend the gym services using the equipment taken from the former gym," said Chairperson and Athletic Director Robert Wisniewski.
The fitness center will be expanded and will be much bigger than the previous Fitness Center, said Wisniewski
"We are doubling the size of the gym and introducing new equipment that students can enjoy," said Wisniewski.
The new equipment that will make its way to the fitness center consists of: treadmills, elliptical trainers, free weights and EMG machines (Muscle Mass Reader) among others.
"We are redoing all the floors, painting the walls, reconstructing the ceiling and installing a dish TV so that students can watch while they're working out," said Wisniewski.
Progress is going very well, and students are very excited about the new fitness center. Many students who use the gym still come to the upper gymnasium, and hopefully we will get a bigger response with the new fitness center, said Wisniewski. He encourages students to come down and participate in the gym amenities.
"Once we advertise our new fitness center opening, I'm looking forward to see new people on campus to come down and use it," said Wisniewski.
